Application areas

The hydrogen generator in a complex with a wind power plant may be used at the farms, cattle-breeding complexes, communication service, and curatively-sanitary resort hotels and at the other objects, where an autonomous energy supply is required. It is intended for wide-range application in those branches of industry, where hydrogen is used as a technological product (chemical, metallurgical, food industries etc.) or as an ecologically clean energy carrier (energetics, transport, communal sphere).

Summary

Updating of the electrolysis hydrogen generators is envisaged by calculation-theoretical and experimental researches of the variable valency metals characteristic to choose the optimal composition of the electrode materials as well as by working-off of the electrodes production technology – all this will give the possibility for substantial increasing the hydrogen generation efficiency.

Expected properties

The main signs of this development are the use of variable valency metals as chemically active electrodes as well employment of a new method of separating in time and space the electrolytic processes of water decomposition for gas liberation (hydrogen and oxygen). As a result the gases pressure is limited only by strength of the case details and fittings and by ultimate solubility of the gases in the electrolyte. As to the level of technical decisions, simplicity of mounting and servicing, reliability and safety – this hydrogen generator surpasses all of the known analogues.

Advantages

Realization of the proposed updating of the hydrogen generator structural and mode parameters will provide:
1. Decreasing of energy consumptions per a unit of the produced product;
2. Hydrogen and oxygen generating under high pressure without application of the compressor technique;
3. Increasing of the system operation reliability;
4. High electrochemical activity of electrodes without the use of the platinum group metals that result in decreasing of cost of the main equipment

They are the Norsk Hydro (Norway), Lurgy (Germany), University of Oklahoma (USA), General Electric Co (USA).

Stage of development

There was theoretically determined the optimal composition of electrode materials to update the hydrogen electrolysis generators that realize the developed before technology of electrical-chemical hydrogen and oxygen generation.
