Abstract

The paper examines the melt quenching in vacuum and the properties of fibers of Cu–12% Al–3.5% Mn shape memory alloy. The average effective diameter of the produced fibers is 113 μm. The temperatures of martensite transformations are determined by resistometrical method. Significant grain refinement from 0.75 mm (in initial state of alloy) up to 40 μm (in fibers) is achieved by melt quenching.
