Abstract

The features of deformation of the sintered porous billets by roller stamping have been considered. The drawing of the original construction of the stamping block to ensure rolling motion was presented. To research the roller stamping process the cylindrical samples made of iron powder and its mixture with 1% of graphite compacted under 550, 700, and 850 MPa and sintered at 1150 °С were used. The basic regularities of: 1) the variation of the relative density and radial deformation of billets during roller stamping with the axial deformation and 2) the variation of the densification level with the shape of porous billet were described. It is shown that total force of the roller stamping is significantly (in 3.0–4.5 times) smaller comparing to those necessary for deformation of the similar billets by using conventional free upsetting.
