Abstract

The decrease in geological surveys in Ukraine complicates field tests of experimental batches of diamond bits produced using advanced scientific developments. The strength of samples that model an impregnated layer of diamond bits both in terms of their composition and production method has been tested in laboratory. The process for producing the samples is similar to the vacuum impregnation technology developed previously for crown bits. The performance of these crown bits during granite boring is also modeled. The testing results are used to evaluate the strength and performance of the impregnated diamond layer and to draw a conclusion that the improvement of diamond crown bits is a promising area.
