Abstract

The effect of deformation rate on wear characteristics of 20X steel is investigated. The change of hardness across the deformation layer of wear track is analyzed. It is shown that hardness decreases with increasing of deformation rate in the region of severe localized shift deformation while macro sample has shown the opposite dependence. This effect is explained by peculiarities of interaction between dislocation structure and deformation defects forming into subsurface wear layer during shift deformation. The obtained results are used for explanation of experimental results about effect of dislocation structure of deformed material on wear intensity and on coefficient of plasification.
