Abstract

The mechanism of contact interaction in the (ZrB2–MoSi2)–molten basalt system at different temperatures is studied to examine the possibility of using boride ceramics as a substitute for platinum alloy for the manufacture of dies. The wetting in the (ZrB2–MoSi2)–basalt system and the formation of a stable interaction zone of limited thickness testify that the material can be used for the manufacture of dies to produce basalt fibers.
