Abstract

Among the methods of cognition of the physicochemical nature of metallurgical melts, a special role is played by mathematical modeling according to the composition-structureproperty scheme at the level of interatomic interaction. The methodology of the nontraditional approach to describing the influence of interatomic interaction on the formation of the structure and properties of both simple and multicomponent systems has been developed and is constantly being developed at the Iron and Steel Institute of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. It is based on the concept of a directed chemical bond, the creation of which would not have taken place without the invaluable support of the Great Scientist G. V. Samsonov, who struck materialists the depth of flight of human thought in the secrets of the electronic structure of substances.
