Abstract

Longitudinal oscillation of rods with a piecewise constant inhomogeneity along the projectile length during impact penetration into target are modeled. Analytic solution is found in the form of series, determining longitudinal oscillations, which are superimposed on projectile motion as a whole. The influence of oscillations, geometrical inhomogeneity, and projectile size on the depth and velocity of penetration is investigated.
