Abstract

The review of the tribologica characteristics and the interaction mechanism of friction couples of superhard (diamond, cubic boron nitride based materials) and high-modulus materials based on tungsten carbide. Diamonds are distinguished of small friction coefficient (f = 0,1—0,2), have a high load capacity — diamond withstand loads up to 0,1 of the elastic modulus without destroying of the friction zone surface layers. Mechanism of diamond-diamond interaction is adhesion: conglutination and destruction of friction surfaces not observed. Superhard and high-materials — the most advanced for equipment of heavy-duty machinery operating in extreme conditions.
