Abstract

Results of gradient hardening of steel and titanium billets strengthening by surface severe plastic deformation are proposed. Surface strengthening obtained by different methods: polling with rotation; asymmetric knurling or reduction with polling. It is shown that coincidence deformation obtained by application of some different schemes give essential rise of hardening. Cooling of machining surface may increase hardening, too. Strengthening effects may be considerably explained by mechanism of structural formation under combined technologies of surface plastic deformation. Full text download
