Abstract

Based on analysis of literature data in the field of coatings playing a role of solid lubricant the perspective investigation directions have been formulated. Two material categories have been considered — having a hardness lower than 10 GPa (polymers, soft metals, hal-ides, dichalcogenides of transition metals, sulphates of alkali based graphite) and having hardness higher than 10 GPa (oxides, carbides, nitrides, borides of transition metals, carbon based composites), as well as methods of their deposition and surface structuring. The development of new composite nanostructured high temperature coatings is considered as the most perspective investigate direction in the nearest future.
