Abstract

Resume. The peculiarities of the formation of wear particles associated with structural changes near tread of railway wheels during operation were investigated. It was shown the localization of wear in the zone of cove that promotes undercut of crests. The main sources and mutual influence of various factors on the formation of wear particles have been established, which makes it possible to predict the nature of the wear of the rolling surface of railway wheels under various operating conditions.
