Abstract

Influence of the isothermal annealing in the nitrogen atmosphere and in a vacuum on phase composition and wear resistance of TiN—TiB2 ceramic composites with boride content of 36 and 50% (wt.) obtained by electric discharge sintering was studied. The annealing in a vacuum resulted in relative intensity reduction of TiN reflexes and formation of the certain unidentified crystalline phase (TiNxОy type), after the annealing in nitrogen the relative amount of TiN rose as a result of titan diboride interaction with nitrogen. Wear resistance of the cutting tool after the annealing in a vacuum rose from 0,05 to 4,5 min.
