Abstract

The present paper demonstrates the possibility of evaluating physical and mechanical properties of the material using the results on its acoustic characteristic measurements by the example of the Ti-based alloy with different β-stabilizing additives. Conventional methods based on pulse and resonant excitations of material samples have been applied to measure acoustic characteristics. The measured acoustic characteristics have been used to calculate the total complex of elastic moduli that determines mechanical behaviour of the material. Correlation between the acoustic characteristics and the material microhardness has been revealed.
