Abstract

Numerical modeling of target penetration by a projectile is carried out. The influence of target material, projectile’s velocity, presence of the second impact and oblique angle is considered as well. It is found out that a character of target fracture at an impact and double impact depends on a number of factors, which can be divided on to two groups. From the one hand fracture is affected by impact parameters for example, projectile’s velocity, distance between the projectiles, etc. From the other hand, fracture zone essentially depends on internal parameters of target material, in particular, ultimate strain rate.
