Abstract

Production and physical and mechanical properties of hydroxyapatite (НАР) dispersion-strengthened with basalt scale are described. The HAP samples dispersion-strengthened with 5 and 10% of basalt scale are investigated after sintering at 700, 800, 900, 950, 1000, 1070, and 1250 °C. X-ray analysis revealed the formation of the β-TCP (tribasic calcium phosphate) phase (typical for low-temperature synthesis) at 1250 °C. The formation of this phase and a possibility to control the HAP–β-TCP ratio are very perspective for producing materials with desired properties.
