Abstract

The oxidation temperature for multilayer carbon nanotubes purified chemically and evaluated morphologically is qualified by scanning electron morphology. The samples obtained by different methods have oxidation temperature of 1033 ± 10 K. The results are based on the oxide extraction of carbon, as СО2, in an oxygen flow and by coulometry at 773–1173 K. That carbon does not oxidize at lower and higher temperatures indicates that the carbon component is pure. For the standardization system of carbon nanomaterials developed by ISO, this chemical method of measuring the amount for multi-walled nanotubes is suitable.
