Abstract

The effect of TiB2 and CrB2 additives on the oxidation behavior of NiCrBSiC and Fe-NiCrBSiC alloy composite materials has been studied in air environment at temperatures up to 800 оС. It is found that the FeNiCrBSiC–20 wt.% TiB2 composite material is most intensively oxidized. Oxidation occurs selectively: titanium diboride is oxidized at temperatures of 450–550 ºC to form TiO2 and B2O3 oxides and the self-flux alloy components are oxidized in the temperature range 570–730 ºC.
