Abstract

Wettability and contact interaction were investigated for AlN ceramic in contact with commercial brazing alloys CB4 and CB5. Contact angles were measured by the sessile drop method during isothermal exposure at 810, 900 and 950 оC in a vacuum 1.10-3 Рa. Melts of the brazing alloys wet the ceramic well (contact angles are lower than 50о). Melt with higher titanium content wets AlN better. Microstructures of the ceramic/brazing alloy interfaces were also investigated and formation of non-stohiometric titanium nitride TiN1-x (x = 0,1-0,6) was registered at the ceramic-metal boundary.
