Abstract

This article presents the results of the studies of the wetting in island films of tin, condensed by the vapour - liquid mechanism on the amorphous carbon substrate at different temperatures. It has been proved that below the melting point of tin, that is, for the supercooled liquid nanoparticles, a decrease is observed in contact angle with a decrease in their size due to the size dependence of the surface energy drops and the interfacial energy of the drop - substrate interface. The nature of the size effect persists during the transition from the non-wetting to partial wetting.
