Abstract

Penetration of the undeformable kinetic energy projectile (KEP) into the target is considered as the “deep” indentation. It was shown by the example of aluminum alloys that the Martel dynamic hardness HMRd can be used for description of this process. HMRd for the target can be calculated from the relation , where m is the mass of the KEP, v is its rate before impact collision with the target, and V is the volume of the penetration channel. The ballistic limit VC of the target with a given thickness l can be calculated by equation for the KEP with a given mass m and diameter d. Full text download
