Abstract

The effects of cohesion and friction on the lateral surface of fibers on the stress intensity factor for a semicircular surface crack in a fiber in fiber-component material with a unidirectional structure are investigated. Calculations carried out by finite element method. The simulation of the fiber boundary splitting during the crack opening was conducted. In modeling the splitting used a bilinear representation of the complete deformation diagram for the material at the fiber boundary.
