Abstract

The vibrocast granular periclase spinel mixture is studied. The range of its operating characteristics (vibrating activity of the material not less than 3 h) is determined depending on the type of dispersant: flow is 80–190% at 4.5–6.2% moisture of the mixture for dispersant based on polyethyleneglycol, 80–180% at 5.2–6.5% moisture for dispersant based on polycarboxylic acid, and 80–190% at 5.5–7.0% moisture for dispersant based on polyelectrolyte. The range of operating characteristics is assessed taking into account the quality of the working (melting) crucible surface. The studies have allowed minimization of possible rejects during vibrocasting and production of high-refractory crucibles with a smooth surface without defects to be used for induction melting of oxidation- and heat-resistant alloys.
