Transparent Ceramics Based on Yttrium Subgroup Lanthanide, Yttrium, and Scandium Oxides

Abstract

The transparent ceramics based on the Y2O3 C-form characterized by optical transmission in visible and near-infrared spectrum and translucent ceramics based on oxides of lanthanides from the yttrium subgroups are produced. Initial nanocrystalline powders are produced with heterophase mechanochemical treatment in acid medium with cations of dopants. The effect from oxides of elements from subgroup IVb (SiO2, PbO), which promote liquid-phase sintering in the production of transparent ceramics, is established.
