Abstract

Yttrium effect on structure, phase composition and hardness of cast intermetallic Ті— 36-wt. % Al alloy is studied. Small additions of Y (0,1—0,6%) are established to modify as-cast lamella alloy structure. Hypoeutectic structure consisting of (γ-TiAl) matrix and ((γ-TiAl) + (YAI2)) eutectic is formed in alloys with Y content of 0,8—5%. It is be noted that yttrium grains are observed practically in the structure of every alloy with Y addition. The determine phase and structure changes are resulted in nonmonotonic dependence of  Vickers hardness vs. Y concentration.
