Abstract

The contacts growth during hydrostatic and closed-die compaction of a bundle unidirectional fibers in a plastic flow state in the range of relative densities 0,907 … 1,0 is studied. Modelling is performed by using finite element method (FEM). A contact elastic-plastic problem of deformation of a bunch of hexagonally packed fibers under plane strain with various conditions in contacts is solved. These conditions included absence of a friction, coefficient of friction equal 0,5 and a bonding of surfaces points at contact formation. For hexagonal packing of fibers variously oriented to a pressure direction the features of pressures changes and their relation are shown. Projections of total contact width on the direction and plane of pressing and their relation for the observed range of relative densities are obtained.
